MY journey to becoming a postpartum doula
After earning a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a Bachelor of Medical Rehabilitation in Physical Therapy, I worked as a physiotherapist in Winnipeg and northern Manitoba communities. In 2011, my life changed with the birth of my first child. The early days of motherhood were extremely challenging as I navigated physical complications, breastfeeding issues, and postpartum anxiety. When my second child was born in 2014, I experienced a much smoother and more joyful postpartum period. The difference between my two experiences was remarkable, thanks to the knowledge and experience I had gained, along with better preparation, realistic expectations, stronger mental health support, and a larger 'village'.
After being a stay at home parent to my 2 children, I knew my next calling was to help other families navigate the postpartum period and make it as joyful, calm, and rewarding as it can be.
My goal is to empower parents to trust their instincts and feel confident in their ability to care for both themselves and their newborns during this transformative phase of life.
I live in Stonewall, Manitoba with my husband, two sons, and two cats.
